About Me

I am a Computational Biologist by education. I develop computational systems biology models and machine learning algorithms that further the understanding of transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation in the context of different human diseases. We use Machine Learning to learn biological signatures and prioritization of biomolecules. See the Projects page for more info.

Short CV

I received a Bachelor in Bioinformatics from the Freie Universität Berlin. I did my Phd with the International Max Planck Research School for Computational Biology and Scientific Computing at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics in Berlin. From 2010-2013 I was a postdoc at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. From 2013-2019 I was leading the high-throuput Genomics & Systems Biology group at the MPI for Informatics and Saarland University in Saarbrücken. Since 2018 I am leading a new group in Frankfurt.
